Stand Down 2016 is scheduled for September 23, 2016 at the Market Common Army Reserve Center - 3392 Phillis Avenue, Myrtle Beach SC. Further details will be promulgated when available.
Volunteers are also needed on September xx to prepare for the event as well as on the day of the event to help tear-down. Event setup will take place Thursday, September xx, 2016 from xx:xx am - x:00 pm. Volunteers will help unload donated items that include Army Surplus goods from our storage POD in Conway, then stuff bags, organize and set up material and or equipment. We will have tables/chairs available for all groups and we will ask for help to pick up large donations if needed.
Many of the groups from last year will be participating again this year. Along with our Chapter, new supporters this year include Horry Georgetown Technical College, the American Legion Auxiliary of Conway, and the Lions Club. The Charleston, SC Veterans Affairs office, and local MB Vet Clinic and Vet Center will support the event with official VA eligibility and record checks, plus limited counseling services. Our local HGTC Market Common, Dental Technicians School, will provide dental screenings.
On Friday the 23rd, the Stand Down event begins.
The morning volunteer shifts begin at 7:00 am, Stand Down begins at 8:00 am and will conclude around 2:00 pm.
We will have breakfast (and coffee!) as well as lunch for all.
